Native Vegetation Assessments

In Victoria, a planning permit is required to remove, destroy or lop native vegetation and the Guidelines for the removal, destruction or lopping of native vegetation (DELWP, 2017) details the process and information requirements. ID Ecological Management has DELWP accredited assessors who have been involved in this native vegetation removal policy since its inception in 1999. We can undertake Vegetation Quality Assessments of the vegetation to be impacted, provide advice on avoiding and minimising impacts, detail offset requirements and provide all documentation required to accompany a planning permit application as required by the Native Vegetation Removal Guidelines.

Ecological Assessments

ID Ecological Management has worked extensively with developers, statutory authorities and private landowners on a range of small to large-scale projects to determine the impact a proposal may have on a site's flora and fauna values. This includes projects such as infrastructure installation or upgrades, mining developments and subdivision. The process involves a thorough site assessment, literature review, likelihood of occurrence for threatened species, assessment against relevant State and Federal legislation and recommendations to avoid and minimise impacts, or additional information requirements such as targeted surveys.

Targeted Flora & Fauna Surveys

Our specialised team of ecologists can provide targeted flora surveys across a range of areas and vegetation types. From identification, through to mapping and minimisation strategies, we can assist with ensuring impacts to our State's at risk ecological values are avoided and minimised where possible. We work closely with partner consultancies to provide both aquatic and terrestrial fauna surveys either for on-going monitoring programs or for threatened species presence/absence in relation to a specific proposal/project.

Impact Assessments for Threatened Species & Ecological Communities

Assessment and referral process of potential impacts on threatened species of State and or Commonwealth significance are a key area of work. We can provide advice to avoid or minimise impacts to specific values; and assist with the referral, application and consultation process.

Landowner Agreements & Offset Plans

ID Ecological Management holds an accreditation with the State government as a Native Vegetation Credit register site assessor. We have completed field assessments, documentation and spatial data preparation to facilitate the entering of sites onto this credit register to enable a site to trade in native vegetation credits (offsets). In addition, we can develop Federal offset plans to address the Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 requirements.

Land Rehabilitation & Ecological Monitoring (EFA & LFA)

Our consultants possess thorough knowledge and practical experience in land rehabilitation and monitoring techniques including Ecosystem Function Analysis & Landscape Function Analysis. This capability has enabled us to provide advice, planning services and compliance reporting to some of the State's largest industries.

Offset Monitoring

ID Ecological Management has provided periodic and ongoing monitoring and reporting for clients against compliance with Commonwealth and State offset commitments.

Weed & Threatened Species Mapping

ID Ecological Management uses a range of GIS applications to provide broad-scale assessment and mapping data for the distribution of weed and threatened species. Our consultants work closely with clients to design the appropriate strategy for individual mapping projects and can also conduct analysis of spatial data to inform ecological or conservation management initiatives.

RPAS / Drones

ID Ecological Management provide high quality georeferenced aerial imagery or collecting and analysing data such as NDVI to assess vegetation health. Our Pilots are CASA certified.
